The Firm
A boutique wealth management / RIA firm with a team-based approach to trading. New clients are onboarded into a defined model and risk profile, with trades placed and rebalanced by a dedicated trading function that works closely with the firm's advisers.
The Role
This is a rare shot at owning trading and portfolio rebalancing for a firm that actually trusts its traders to run the show, not just execute orders in a back room with no say in anything.
- You'll be the person client accounts run through: placing trades and rebalancing portfolios against each client's model and risk level, with real ownership over how that gets done
- Forget the grind of a full-time, trading-only desk. Rebalancing can get busy, even daily at times, but it's not relentless, which means you've got real room to build out other skills and take on more as you grow into the role
- Less time getting pulled into client meetings, more time doing the work you're actually good at. And if you eventually want a foot in the advisory side too, that door is open
- This isn't a role that caps out. Traders here have grown into advisory work, marketing, and beyond. Where you take it is largely up to you
You'll join a team-based trading function: one lead trader (who also supports marketing) works alongside several advisers who assist with trading. This role would sit alongside or under the lead trader.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine interest in trading, more important than a purely trading-only background
- Comfortable in a less client-facing, back-office focused role, with openness to a broader remit over time
- Experience with Tamarac is a significant advantage
- Experience with Orion, Black Diamond or iRebal is also relevant
- Candidates ranging from newer entrants to the industry through to those with a couple of years' trading experience will be considered; compensation will reflect experience level
Salary is expected in the $60,000 to $90,000 range depending on experience. The firm has indicated flexibility to be fair and competitive for the right candidate.
