About the Role We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Corporate Tax Manager to join our growing tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to take ownership of a diverse portfolio while playing a key role in delivering both compliance and advisory services to a broad range of businesses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing corporate tax compliance and tax accounting assignments, providing practical and technically robust tax advice, and developing strong client relationships. Alongside managing client work, you will lead and mentor junior team members, helping to drive excellence across the wider tax team.
This role offers a varied workload, exposure to complex tax matters, and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements, business development initiatives, and the continued growth of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of corporate tax compliance services for a varied client portfolio.
- Oversee corporation tax returns and tax accounting assignments, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
- Provide proactive corporate tax advisory support and practical solutions to clients.
- Conduct detailed technical research and communicate findings clearly in both written and verbal form.
- Manage assignment budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Review work completed by junior team members and provide guidance, coaching, and development support.
- Monitor team performance, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, efficiencies, and technology utilisation.
- Support business development activities, including identifying new opportunities and expanding existing client relationships.
- Take an active role in networking and promoting the firm's services within the marketplace.
- Contribute to risk management, process enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will ideally have:
- ACA, ACCA, CA, ATT, CTA qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in corporate tax compliance and advisory work.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation tax.
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients within a professional services environment.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing team members.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong project management and organisational abilities.
- A commercial mindset with the confidence to identify opportunities and deliver value to clients.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience using tax compliance software, with Alphatax experience being advantageous.
