Corporate Tax Assistant Manager
Glasgow (Edinburgh or Stirling considered) | Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office

An established, growing advisory firm is looking for a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager to join its Central Region team. This is a chance to run your own client portfolio, get involved in varied advisory work and help develop the next generation of tax professionals, in a team where progression depends on performance, not time served.

The team

You’ll join a close-knit corporate tax team that is part of a much larger national practice, with specialist groups covering innovation and R&D, international and large corporate, restructuring and due diligence, and core compliance. Clients range from not-for-profits and owner-managed businesses to larger UK corporate groups, so the work is broad.

What you’ll be doing
  • Managing your own portfolio of corporate tax clients and delivering compliance accurately and on time
  • Preparing more complex corporation tax computations, and reviewing computations, returns and tax accounting disclosures prepared by junior colleagues
  • Supporting advisory projects that match your experience and interests, such as group reorganisations and restructures, R&D, international matters, due diligence and owner-managed business transactions
  • Assisting with HMRC enquiries and getting hands-on exposure to them
  • Acting as a day-to-day contact for clients and building long-term relationships
  • Supporting Partners, Directors and Managers with proposals, tenders, networking and business development
  • Coaching and mentoring trainees and junior team members
  • Keeping up to date with legislative changes and sharing knowledge with colleagues and clients
  What you’ll bring
  • CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent, or a tax-only route (ATT/CTA)
  • CTA qualified or working towards it. Strong corporate tax experience without a tax qualification will also be considered.
  • Practice experience in UK corporation tax compliance, either managing a portfolio, working on advisory projects, or both
  • Experience reviewing work and supervising or mentoring junior staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proactive, collaborative approach
Seniors already working at Assistant Manager level are encouraged to apply.

Nice to have
  • Experience with ERS returns and share schemes
  • Exposure to corporate groups, OMBs or international work
  • Alphatax experience (training is provided)
