Broadgate Search and Independent Audit brought together a small, experienced group of INEDs, Company Secretaries and CROs to share experiences and reflections on how best to support (and challenge well) at board level.

October 8th marked the launch of The Conversationalist Series, a new collaboration between Broadgate and Independent Audit designed to create space for open dialogue among Chairs, Non-Executive Directors, Company Secretaries and CROs on the challenges facing boards today.

Hosted in Dublin, the inaugural roundtable brought together leaders from financial services, non-profits and other regulated sectors for a candid discussion on how boards can better support their Non-Executive Directors.

Across the table, the discussion turned to the realities behind effective governance: building trust, fostering openness and keeping challenges productive. The conversation revealed a set of shared challenges that many boards now face: balancing oversight with agility, maintaining independence without isolation, and ensuring that governance frameworks evolve in step with organisational realities.

The event insights paper, available by completing the short form below, capture the key themes from the session: practical reflections on what helps Independent Non-Executive Directors thrive, and how boards can create the ideal conditions for better decision-making.
