Senior Risk Manager  - Distribution - Insurance
Location: Flexible across the UK (office attendance minimum 2 days per week)
Salary: £75,000-£90,000 depending on experience


About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Distribution Risk Manager to help make risk management simple, clear, and effective across our commercial business. Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, you’ll lead a small team of risk professionals and work closely with colleagues across all lines of defence to embed the enterprise risk framework within underwriting and distribution activities.
This is a senior and highly visible role, offering the opportunity to shape risk culture, strengthen governance, and drive continuous improvement across a diverse set of commercial operations.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead and develop a team of Distribution & Underwriting Risk Consultants.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing embedding of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework across distribution and underwriting functions.
  • Work closely with first-line business leaders to identify, assess, and manage operational and commercial risks.
  • Provide expert risk guidance on delegated authorities, intermediated trading, and direct distribution activities.
  • Oversee the onboarding and monitoring of delegated authority arrangements and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
  • Deliver timely, insightful risk reporting and MI to senior stakeholders to inform effective decision-making.
  • Support and coordinate internal reviews and audits, ensuring robust management action plans are in place.
  • Promote a strong risk culture and drive risk maturity through training, coaching, and practical guidance.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong background in operational risk management within insurance or financial services.
  • Excellent understanding of distribution and underwriting processes, including delegated authority arrangements.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex risk concepts in a clear and accessible way.
  • Experience leading or coaching others in a risk or governance environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Working knowledge of FCA/PRA regulations and conduct/operational risk requirements.
  • Commercial, pragmatic, and delivery-focused mindset with the ability to influence at senior levels.
