About the Role - A leading international private banking group is seeking a Head of Financial Risk to strengthen its risk function in Geneva. This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the bank’s financial risk management framework, leading risk professionals, and ensuring robust regulatory alignment with FINMA and European standards.
The position will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial risk setup, building on existing resources in credit, market, and liquidity risk, while enhancing transversal oversight across all financial risk disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the financial risk function, ensuring strong coverage across credit, market, and liquidity risk.
- Design and implement the bank’s financial risk framework, embedding best practice across 1st and 2nd line of defence.
- Manage regulatory engagement with FINMA, ECB, and other regulators, ensuring compliance with Swiss and European requirements.
- Drive strategic risk projects in parallel with day-to-day oversight.
- Provide senior risk monitoring, reporting, and escalation to senior management.
- Collaborate with executives and other branches internationally, ensuring consistency of risk practices across jurisdictions.
- Mentor and support colleagues to build technical depth and leadership capability.
Candidate Profile
- 8–10+ years of financial risk experience, with significant exposure to financial risk in private banking.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Expertise across credit, market, and liquidity risk, with ability to apply a transversal risk vision.
- Experience in Swiss and European regulatory environments (FINMA essential, ECB/European exposure valued).
- Demonstrated ability to run multiple risk projects in parallel.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to interact confidently with regulators and senior executives.
- Languages: English mandatory; Spanish or French an asset.
