A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Financial Risk Manager to join its growing second-line risk team. This is a high-profile role offering the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives including Bulk Purchase Annuity transactions and acquisition activity, with direct engagement across senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent second-line review and challenge of financial risk elements in strategic and commercial proposals.
- Support the design, monitoring, and reporting of the organisation’s financial risk appetite and stress/scenario testing within the ORSA framework.
- Produce and develop Board and committee-level risk reporting and MI.
- Lead deep dives and assurance reviews focused on credit and investment risks, including Matching Adjustment oversight.
- Collaborate with first-line teams to ensure effective financial risk identification, monitoring, and management.
- Review methodologies used in asset rating, actuarial modelling, and investment analytics.
- Support the ongoing enhancement of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and contribute to regulatory submissions.
- Strong experience in financial risk management within the life insurance, pensions, or investment management sectors.
- In-depth understanding of credit risk, investment frameworks, and regulatory requirements (PRA, FCA).
- Familiarity with concepts such as Matching Adjustment, illiquid assets, and Solvency II.
- Experience in a second-line risk, actuarial, or financial oversight capacity (or a strong first-line background with a risk mindset).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders constructively.
