Credit Risk Manager

Location: West Midlands (hybrid working)

An established, values-driven financial services organisation is now looking for an experienced Credit Risk Manager to play a key role in supporting lending objectives and managing credit risk exposure through high-quality insight & analytics. 

As the Credit Risk Manager, you’ll be joining as a specialist analytics SME and provide expert insight to senior stakeholders across the business. Working directly with the CRO,  you’ll be instrumental in shaping credit risk strategy, developing models, and ensuring robust monitoring and reporting in line with regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing subject matter expertise and guidance, including SAS programming support where required
  • Producing monthly and quarterly credit risk reporting for the Board, Risk Committee, internal governance forums and external regulators (including PRA/FCA)
  • Analysing internal and external mortgage data to support lending decisions and strategic objectives
  • Delivering complex ad-hoc credit risk analysis and high-quality report writing
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the organisation’s credit risk management framework
  • Deputising for the Head of Credit Risk at senior forums such as Executive Risk Committee and Product Consideration Group
  • Leading the development of credit risk models to support operational decision-making, including affordability models
  • Working closely with Product teams to set and monitor Product Stress Rates in line with MCOB and FPC guidance
  • Presenting analysis and securing approvals through Credit and Risk Committees
  • Acting as a senior voice within Credit Risk, collaborating with teams such as Treasury and Product to support wider business objectives
What you’ll bring
  • Significant experience across the Credit Risk lifecycle, ideally within mortgage lending
  • A strong numerical background, with a degree in a quantitative subject or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience analysing complex datasets and turning insight into action
  • Hands-on experience with data mining or statistical software such as SAS (or equivalent)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences
  • Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
