We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a driven and commercially focused Commercial Executive to join their high-performing business development function. This role is heavily focused on new business acquisition, making it ideal for someone who enjoys outbound sales calls, building relationships from first contact, and generating new revenue opportunities.
In this role, you will be responsible for proactively engaging prospective clients, introducing the firm’s services through high-quality sales conversations, qualifying opportunities, and securing meetings for the wider commercial and service teams. You will play a key role in driving new business growth and expanding the firm’s presence across Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively make outbound new business sales calls to prospective clients using targeted campaigns and lead lists.
- Identify, engage, and develop relationships with new prospects through consultative sales conversations.
- Clearly articulate the firm’s services and value proposition to senior decision-makers, including CEOs, MDs, CFOs, and SME owners.
- Qualify new business opportunities against agreed criteria and secure virtual or in-person meetings for Business Development and service teams.
- Follow up on warm inbound enquiries and convert them into new business opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activity within the CRM system.
- Support the sales process with follow-up emails and pipeline management.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities where relevant and introduce additional services.
- Ensure a seamless handover of qualified opportunities to internal stakeholders.
- Deliver a professional and engaging experience at every stage of the sales cycle.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial, new business sales, SDR, BDR, or outbound sales role.
- Proven track record of success in outbound calling and new business development.
- Experience within a professional services or B2B sales environment is highly desirable.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage senior stakeholders by phone.
- Target-driven, with the ability to manage a high volume of outbound activity effectively.
- Comfortable using CRM systems and digital sales tools.
- Strong objection-handling and relationship-building skills.
- Well organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
