Matthew Carson

Matthew is an Associate in Baker McKenzie's market-leading Employment practice in London. He joined the Firm in March 2020 and has been an active participant in I&D initiatives since then, both as a member of the Baker LGBT+&Allies Steering Committee and as a keen supporter of a range of BakerOpportunity initiatives focused on social mobility. He has worked with major clients of Baker McKenzie to deliver joint events and fundraisers, as well as working with colleagues to promote I&D within the Firm.

Rachel Reese

Rachel originally trained as an Avionics Software Engineer working within the defence sector, later transferring to a senior position within HR.

An interest in employment law led her to study for the Solicitors’ Final Examinations. As a woman with trans history she was unable to obtain a position within a law firm in the 1990s, so instead joined the University of Law working for 15 years in various senior operational roles leading up to Production Director. Rachel is founder and CEO of Global Butterflies, a company that is hugely successful in helping businesses to create trans & non-binary inclusive environments. Global Butterflies donates much of its time and profits to other LGBTQI causes and events.

She was Vice Chair of The Law Society LGBT Lawyers Division Committee representing trans & non-binary solicitors and is a trans & non-binary ambassador for Aspiring Solicitors. Rachel has worked with many law firms regarding their trans & non-binary inclusion journeys. She is honoured to be a judge for the People in Law, InsideOut and OutVertising awards each year.

In 2019, she wrote the acclaimed “Lloyds of London Trans & Non-binary Inclusion Guide” and also contributed to the popular “Guide to Gender Neutral Drafting” with the Government Legal Department. Rachel joined the IGLTAF trans & nonbinary board in 2021. Advising on tourism support for trans & non-binary travelers.

D&I Leaders listed Rachel as one of their Inspirational D&I Leaders in 2021. In 2022, Rachel was listed as a Pride Inclusion Advocate by Pride Life Global. Also in 2022, Rachel was awarded the Chambers Crystal Award (with her wife Emma), for their visible work in trans & non-binary inclusion.

Jacqui Rhule-Dagher

Jacqui Rhule-Dagher is an associate at Hogan Lovells International LLP. She specialises in corporate litigation, fraud and investigations.

Alongside her busy day job, Jacqui is involved in a number of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Jacqui is part of the Hogan Lovells UK Pride Network’s steering committee; and The Law Society’s LGBTQ+ Solicitors Network.

Jacqui is the founder of Legally Lesbians. This initiative saw 25 lesbian lawyers write about their careers and why visibility is important to them. Legally Lesbians was supported by DIVA Magazine.

Jacqui also founded Carnival Comes to Clifford Chance. This was an annual summer party, hosted jointly by the Pride and BME networks, to raise awareness about intersectionality. Stonewall and Channel 4 have supported the event.

Jacqui is very passionate about raising awareness surrounding intersectionality. She has written for a number of publications about this topic including Thomson Reuters, The Lawyer and DIVA Magazine. Jacqui has also written for the Metro about her journey towards self-acceptance.

Jacqui has spoken on Bloomberg Radio, where she discussed how she navigates being part of the LGBTQIA community while working in the City. She also featured in the Corporate Queer Exhibition by Fiona Freund.

Earlier this year, Jacqui was named as a Top 10 Future Leader by the British LGBT Awards. She was also named as Top 100 Future Leader by the Empower Role Models Lists, supported by YouTube. Jacqui is on the DIVA Power List 2023 and the Pride Power List 2023.
